Here is a nice condition copy of "DOWN EAST, The Magazine of Maine", for SEPTEMBER, 1966, Volume XIII , Number 2 . This magazine is still in business, with a much larger distribution now than it had back in its early years in the middle 1960s! These early issues are very hard to find nowadays.

This issue has cover artwork by Stell and Shevis,

      and articles on

     Booth Tarkington of Kennebunkport,

     Small Powerboating on Casco Bay,

Maine's Busiest Drawbridge at The Gut at South Bristol,

Rex Brasher - Painter of Birds,

     September Lake Trout Fishing,

Pottery and Ceramic Repairer William Zander of Ellsworth,

September scenery (with four pages of color photos) ,

     Recent Maine news and opinions,

plus lots of vintage Maine related advertisements.

This magazine measures about 8 1/2 by 11 inches, and has 84 pages. It is in good condition, with clean pages and a tight binding. The covers have moderate wear and slight soiling.  Also, there is "25c" written on the upper left hand part of the front cover, and a dogear fold on this same corner. Inside, this magazine looks like it was hardly read at all. Great for the diehard Maine history / memorabilia collector!

. Please check my other old Down East magazines, I will gladly combine multiple purchases to save you on postage. Thanks for looking!
