This was a special book in its time, giving us landmark new research about the advantages of pet owning. It presented research, done by the authors, which clearly demonstrated that our physical and mental health was better when we shared our lives with animals. It proved that owning pets could reduce your stress in live; that stroking a dog's fur could actually bring down blood pressure; that watching a tank of fish swim back and forth could have the same effect of hours of meditation. Indeed, it showed that talking with your pet provided an armour against the trials of life.
Talks about the use of dogs in prisons, mental health facilities and nursing homes.
