Black oil sunflowers
produce seeds used for sunflower oil. When they're ready to harvest, you can leave the seeds on the flower heads to dry out with a brown bag
tied over them, you will have an abundance of seeds that are great as a
healthy snack, They're full of vitamin E and vitamin B6. Best of all,
black oil sunflower seeds are easy to plant and will grow without any
assistance, except to water, but only if there's a long period of no
rain.
They make a nice addition to sunflower mazes and is also used for tasty micro-greens. These plants are Multi-branched with dozens of flowers, size ranges from 4”-9”. Golden yellow flowers with a brown center. Height is usually about 5 to 7 feet tall.

Peredovik Yellow sunflowers produce large, vibrant yellow-petaled blooms with rich, dark centers and are reliable and easy to grow. This classic species is the forefather of many sunflower varieties and a favorite for home gardeners! Once the flowers are spent and you want to protect the tasty and highly nutritious seeds. Just place a brown paper bag over the seed head and tie it below the flowers stem. When it's ripe and ready to come indoors, cut the stem below and bring them into your storage area, to finish drying out. Some folks like to hang them upside-down on a rope or hook and then when ready, brush the seeds off onto a newspaper.
And if you don't harvest them, they will attract all kinds of birds, such as; goldfinches, cardinals, chickadees, bluejays and many others.

Planting Instructions:
Plant 1 inch deep in soil after danger of frost has passed, in the Spring when soil temperature is at least 65F in the most sunny area you can find. Space them at Least 6 inches apart.
Directions: - Sow directly in rows when all risk of frost has is past- Sow in a full sun location that gets at least 6 hours of sun per day- Sunflowers do well in loose soil with compost mixed in- Sow 1" deep and about 12" apart- Seedlings will need to be watered every day it doesn't rain for the first week or two- After two weeks water regularly and increase watering during very hot weather
