The History of Rock magazine came out in 1982. It was a weekly part-work magazine published by Orbis which looked into the 'history' of rock, examining various artists, recording studios and background to the music. With good, detailed information backed up excellent photographs, these magazines are great fun!
In this issue:
- The Heyday of Soul – Memphis became the centre of a tough black sound
- Pain In My Heart – Otis Redding: Black music’s most emotive voice
- Stax – how Jim Stewart’s record label made soul its own
- King Solomon – Preaching the gospel of soul with Solomon Burke
- Double Dynamite – The explosive vocal talents of Sam and Dave
- The Wicked Pickett – Midnight in Memphis gave Wilson a million-seller
- The Great Musicians – Stevie Wonder
The magazine has around 24 pages.
Condition: The magazine is in very good condition but has been read and has some minor creasing, plus there’s a newsagent’s delivery name on the front cover. The magazine pictured below is the one you will receive.
