Presenting this absolutely superb Australian studio pottery vase by Bernadette Alting of Underwood Pottery, Tasmania.
This wonderful example of her work is in bulbous form. It features heavily carved spiral sgraffito decoration to the outside. The deep sgraffito bands remain unglazed and look absolutely superb against the dry blue glaze to the outside of the vase. The textural appeal that this creates is absolutely stunning!!!
The rim and inside of the vase have been beautifully completed with a charcoal gloss glaze and really refines and balances the earthy feel to the piece.
Each of Bernadette Alting’s pieces is unique from the next. She hand paints each design and even uses brushes she has made herself with horse hair, dog hair and even human hair.
Although her art is abstract, Alting is influenced by the nature that surrounds her. This is particularly evident in this stunning piece!!!
This absolutely beautiful vase measures 14cm in diameter and stands 13cm in height. Weighs 565 grams.
