Included in Roth, et. al., The Book of 101 Books. Writing there David
Levi Strauss called this book "a remarkably human document." Meiselas
was accepted into the prestigious Magnum agency the year it was
published. "Like the [carnival strip] show," Meiselas said in her
introduction, "the book represents coexistent aspects of a phenomenon,
one which horrifies, one which honors. If the viewer is appalled by what
follows, that reaction is not so different from the alienation of those
who participate in the shows."
Very good in a good plus dust jacket. DJ
lightly soiled and rubbed w/ moderate wear and several tears to edges
and to the top and bottom of the spine as well as a several creases.
Corners and edges scuffed and rubbed. Chip to the top edge. Not price clipped. Silver boards have several abrasions. Light wear to the corners, edges and to heel
of spine. Very good internally. Binding tight. Hinges sound. Great
photographs. Clean images. Tanning to
page edges.
