THE BILLBOARD - The World’s Foremost Amusement Weekly

Volume 52 Number 37 -  14 September 1940

This is a very nice original 9-⅞ x 13-⅞ inch, 90-page example of the 14 September 1940 issue of THE BILLBOARD - The World’s Foremost Amusement Weekly.  Eddie Varzos and his violin are featured on the cover, celebrating the one year anniversary of his show at the St. Moritz on the Park Hotel in NYC.

The big magazine contains information about radio broadcasts, music popularity, entertainers, record companies, concerts, bands on tour, new Broadway plays, Vaudeville reviews, a chapter called Dressing Room Gossip, and news such as Irving Berlin and his back taxes, record crowds at Jimmy Dorsey concerts, the death of Giulio Gatti-Casazza, and the new Wurlitzer distribution contract.

There are new show and county fair announcements (big cities but also smaller markets in the Midwest , for example) and advertising for radios, cameras, fur coats, fancy watches, theater tickets, pinball machines, circus tents, popcorn machines, magical apparatus, political novelties, God Bless America banners, bingo supplies, gum ball machines, and even Bally Rapid-Fire machine guns with diving U-Boat targets!  If you own a rare World War II American Rock-Ola M1 carbine, the big Rock-Ola ad in this magazine (shown below) is priceless!

Our photos show the actual 14 September 1940 issue of THE BILLBOARD that we are offering for sale.  It is complete, has no offensive odor and is in nice used condition.

RAPIDAPOLIS has a long history of selling on eBay since 1998, and of customer satisfaction with the items we sell and with our shipping.  We encourage buyers to examine our listings carefully, review our many thousands of feedbacks and buy with confidence.
