The most noticeable difference between the Assoluto and the RC is the move away from the ISP (Integrated Seat Post) which allows a little more flexibility both in fit and comfort. The other obvious change is that the RC frame has been specifically designed with the new generation of electronic groupsets in mind; cabling – be it mechanical or electronic – is now all internal which helps tidy the lines of the bike whilst protecting the cables themselves.

The shaped down-tube and oversized chainstays help create a stiff feel and the narrow, squared seatstays offer the rider the vertical compliance to keep them comfortable in the saddle mile after mile. The use of a tapered head-tube allows for an oversize lower headset bearing which helps to increase stiffness and steering precision.

The ride is impressive and similarly to the Assoluto has a definite ‘planted’ feel and no hint that it might put a foot wrong. The most noticeable difference is in the comfort, the lack of ISP adds to the already refined and comfortable ride of the standard Assoluto. The neutral handling is not quite as lively as some may want but gives an immediately confident ride which allows the pilot to sit back and put the miles in without having to ever ‘fight’ the bike. 

The Assoluto RC is a well-designed and executed frameset that looks classy. It can be built with either existing mechanical or modern electronic componentry with the cabling tucked away neatly in the frame. If you are looking to upgrade your current frameset and would like to ‘future-proof’ then you would do well to consider the Assoluto RC, electronic groupsets will inevitably come down in price in years to come – when they do, your frame will be ready!
