This is an original 1920 hardcover printing of the old pregnancy handbook "The Prospective Mother," written by J. Morris Slemons and published by D. Appleton and Company. The equivalent of today's "What to Expect When You're Expecting" 100 years ago, this 343-page volume is comprehensive and written specifically for the laity, rather than for people in the medical field; topics covered can be seen on the contents page in my 8th photo.

Overall, the copy being offered is in fair condition. As you'll see in my first five photos, the covers have noticeable wear, primarily in the corners and at the top of the spine, where some tearing and fraying are found. Three pressure indentations occur below the center of the front cover, one of which penetrates the surface layer. While both covers are a little loose from the binding, and the binding is a little stiff, it remains rather strong. The pages are mostly clean and crisp, with occasional small stains and smudges. I found no marking or writing while flipping through the book, so if there is any marking, it can't be much. However, the page edges do have some scrapes and a small black streak, as my 5th photo shows.

Please review my photos and feel free to message me if you have any questions or if you would like to see more photos; the book shown in the photos is the exact book you will receive.
