We are happy to now start offering these new High Speed Steel strikers! HSS Steel is common used as a cutting tool material in power-saw blades and router bits. 

They are extremely hard and very sharp!

HSS Steel makes great ferro rod strikers, the sheer hardness and shape of the striker will remove excess material from your ferro rods, compared to normal steel strikers. 

More fragments removes means more sparks!

The hardwood handles have been finished with multiple coats of oil so are heavily resistant to rain and humid environments. 

The HSS striker has also been fixed in place using Gorilla Epoxy Resin so there is no chance of it falling out! This striker will look very good alongside with more traditional rods.

However, we want to stress HSS strikers will decrease the lifespan of your ferro rods, for the reason above. Although, if you are using thicker rods such as the Beast Fire Starter™ from Forest Fundamentals (which we also stock) 

you will have nothing to worry about! There are also other ways to increase the lifespan of your ferro rods such as, proper tinder preparation and striking technique.
