Vintage Craftsman Hakata Clay Doll the Painter.
I have 5 different ones of these that I will be listing from Dad's Estate.  I made a copy in the information paperwork that was with them all and will include it with this listing. They wrote 1945 on the corner of the history page, which makes me believe that was the year they purchased them.  These are really neat clay collectors dolls.  They depict they everyday life of the Japanese as to the time frame from when they were made.  The original maker of these goes back to the castle era.  As the guy was making roofing tiles, he had some down time and started making dolls with the extra clay.  The castle owner saw them and had him make decorations for his castle.  This craft was eventually passed down through his family to what they make today. This is a nice looking painter man.  His foot has been broken and glued back on.  He also has chips in the paint.  His paint brush is also missing.  My look at the picture he made.  I wonder if it is of his loved one.  Please look at the pictures as they are part of the description and are of the figurine that you are looking to buy.
