Vintage OP Ocean Pacific Walking Shorts with Tags Robinson's-May Co. Tan Large

  • CONDITION: New with Original Product and Store Tags. The department store tag is bent in half. Though never worn, I would assume the elastic waistband is no longer very elastic due to age, does not spring back. I am the original retail purchaser of this item decades ago. This item has been in storage for a very long time with other clothes. Some of the boxes had either soap bars or moth balls or combination. In addition to those smell it might smell fusty like most old clothes does.
  • Front Legs are pleated at the waistband.
  • The front snap button closure on the waistband is approximately 17 mm diameter.
  • The plastic zipper fly opening is about 7 inches.
  • The waistband height is approximately 1½ inches.
  • The length from the top of the waistband on the leg side-seam is 18 inches.
  • The back pocket is a basic external patch pocket with 90 degree angles.
  • The back pocket has a hoop and loop fastener.
  • The back pocket measures approximately under 5½ inches wide by 6 1/8 inches tall including the seams.
  • There are 4 woven labels (patches) sewn onto the garment. There are 4 attached paper labels (tags).
  • There is also two QC inspection stickers on the inside with "4" or "10". Each about 12 mm by 10 mm. They are only the numbers and no other text.

  • The Ocean Pacific Apparel Corp. (aka Ocean Pacific or OP) clothing line started in 1972 and is iconic of the Southern California surf culture as well as the street style.
  • "The double-barreled Robinsons-May name was created in 1993 when the former May Company California was consolidated with their corporate sibling JW Robinson's. May Department Stores had acquired Robinson's with its 1986 acquisition of Associated Dry Goods Corp. J. W. Robinson's had been acquired by Associated Dry Goods in 1957, while May Company California had been established in 1923 when May acquired the then-named A. Hamburger & Sons that was founded in 1881 by Asher Hamburger."

  • Both stores were high quality department stores with excellent customer service. They also each had their own following of shoppers. Many of these shoppers never transitioned to Macy's. Someday Robinson's or May Co. might reappear again before all of their employees that took pride in their respective stores and loyal customers are gone.
