These vintage John Bull magazines are a wonderful resource of post-war Britain - giving insight to contemporary thought and ideas. The illustrations, in particular the covers, are fantastic. There are articles and serialisation of many well-known authors’ works, both fiction and non-fiction. And the advertisements are great, too!
In this issue:
- Cover: Gerald Fancett
- Tower of Apricots by John Kruse
- Mr King means business behind the Iron Curtain by Wilfred Greatorex - Wilfred King
- Nightmare in Copenhagen by Martha Albrand - Part 2
- Norman Buckley races with disaster - and wins by Jack Atack - Speedboat racer, Lake Windermere
- The Edge of the Sword by Captain Anthony Farrar-Hockley - Glorious Glosters, North Korea - Part 5
- The boy who wouldn’t give up by Dudley Hoys
- Con Lainer defends his boom crop on two fronts by Keith Ellis - Tobacco Farming
The magazine is large format, measuring appoximately 35cm by 26cm, with 44 pages
Condition: The magazine is in very good condition, showing reading wear and some creasing to the covers, plus a newagent’s delivery address written on the cover. Given that the magazine is over 60 years old, its condition is pretty good, but certainly not perfect! The magazine pictured below is the one you will receive.
I accept returns, and if you’d like any further information, just ask!
