Exceptional antique carved wood doll most likely from the Grodnertal region. I believe this style is called “alien head.”
She is tall at almost 11 1/2 inches.
In lovely all original condition. Her clothes look better in person, not as spotty as in the photos. I don’t think her clothes have ever been taken off.
Her body is all hand carved and pegged. Her head is painted and the hair looks to be applied paper Mache (as was typical of alien heads). The paper mache on the back of her neck is lifting a bit. I’ve tried to capture this with a photo.
She’s a really special example I think.
