DAVID WRIGHT GRAND SLAM BAT - GU MLB - NY METS - WBC Classic March 9, 2013 - CAPT. AMERICA ***

*** This bat belongs in the WBC section of the Cooperstown Hall of Fame and I have direct proof that it does with an email from the Director of Communications at the HOF… see 2nd image posted of the email ***

I’m in possession of a very important game used bat that David Wright used in the WBC 2013 vs Italy. See images for photo matching of bat with exact markings from game use. He used it to hit a grand slam to beat the Italian team (before breaking it in the 7th inning) in a thrilling game. I would think this is considered one of David’s top 5 highlights in his career, in which the hit earned him the nickname ‘Captain America.’

FYI: the Baseball Hall of Fame wanted this for their WBC Classic display in Cooperstown. They had to use David’s bat from the 2009 WBC instead. This bat represents 1 of David’s top 5 career highlights.

March 10, 2013 — CAPTAIN AMERICA

Wright's grand slam helps Team USA beat Italy in the WBC, earning the Mets captain a new nickname, Captain America!

"Up to this point if you say, 'Hey, what's the most fun you've had on a baseball field?' I'd say the World Series," Wright told MLB.com back in 2017. "But I would say in the conversation of cool things that I've gotten to do on a baseball field, the World Baseball Classic is toward the top of that list for sure.

“Getting a chance to represent your country, and put that jersey on, and hear the chants of 'U-S-A, U-S-A' — that's one of the highlights of my career."
