This is a rare November 17th, 1952 playbill from the Post-Broadway engagement of S. M. CHARTOCK'S GILBERT and SULLIVAN COMPANY in a repertory of comic operas at the Shubert Theatre in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (The company had opened October 27th, 1952 at New York's Mark Hellinger Theatre for a limited run prior to this tour.) ..... The Philadelphia engagement included performances of "THE MIKADO", "IOLANTHE" (or "The Peer and the Peri"), "THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE" (or "The Slave of Duty"), "TRIAL BY JURY" and "H. M. S. PINAFORE" (or "The Lass That Loved a Sailor".) ..... The cast of "THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE" included MARTYN GREEN, FRANK ROGIER, EARL WILLIAM, ELLA HALMAN, JOSEPH MACAULAY, MARY ROCHE, LILLIAN MURPHY, SHIRLEY PRINGLE, AUDREY DEARDEN and ROBERT ECKLES .....
