TRECCANI - "The Visual"
Italian-English vocabulary for images
Published by the Institute of the Italian Encyclopaedia
Published in 2003, the work constitutes the Italian edition of the Nouveau Dictionnaire Visuel, published by Québec Amérique International, and underlines the importance attributed by the Institute of the Italian Encyclopaedia to international collaboration for the exchange of knowledge.
The Visual presents an original association of lexicon and images.
The words, accompanied by their translation into English, are not presented alphabetically, but linked to about 6,000 illustrations and organized by large conceptual areas, variously articulated within them (thus, for example, the astronomy theme is divided into three sub-themes − celestial bodies , astronomical and astronautical observation − and the celestial bodies sub-theme, in turn, is divided into the following eight tables: solar system, planets and satellites, Sun, Moon, meteorite, comet, star, galaxy).
The peculiar feature of the work consists in providing the possibility, through the illustrations, to find a word starting from an idea or a concept; in addition to this, traditional consultation is always possible starting from the alphabetical list of topics or from that of illustrated words. The volume, 20.5 × 29 cm in size, has gray canvas tops and gilt engravings and friezes.

Very good condition, minor signs of use. CD with cellophane.
