It looks very gorgeous, artistic and auspicious. It is decorated with camelia and traditional Japanese patters called Shippo-Tsunagi-Mon which is believed to beckon lucky fortune. 100% hand painted. Please review photos. You would agree the stunning works done by the artist.
The artist is SAITO Naoaki 2nd. (２代 齋藤尚明 in Japanese). According to his biography (photo #18), he was born in 1950 in Niigata prefecture and trained by his father.
Photo #14 ~ 17: He signed his name on the inside of the lid and the wooden box. He drew the title of this box. Its literally translation is "Painted with colors and gold - Camelia-Decorative box".
It is not used. In perfect condition. No chips, cracks or dings. White (or shining) spots in pictures are reflection of light, i.e., no flaw or blemish.
It comes with the original wooden box.
