THE PRIDE OF THE YANKEES MOVIE PROGRAM-- SPECIAL BENEFIT SHOWING MARCH 22, 2001 SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA

This program was distributed to guests at a special benefit screening of The Pride of the Yankees on March 22, 2001 in Scottsdale, AZ. Guests were treated to a big-screen showing of the classic 1942 RKO Radio Picture staring Gary Cooper. The evening included an auction of baseball memorabilia and a presentation by the Arizona Chapter of the Major League Alumni Association. Chapter President Lou Klimchock and former Yankee Ron Davis were the guest speakers. The event was sponsored by the Alumni and the Arizona Flame Delhi Chapter of SABR. Proceeds from the evening's event benefited the ALS Association. Lou Gehrig was taken from us early by ALS. The 32-page program features a review of the film by movie historian Rob Edleman; a bio of Lou Gehrig excerpted from Baseball: The Biographical Encyclopedia; the complete Lou Gehrig home run log including the date, inning, opponent and opposing pitcher for every one of Lou's 493 home runs; a bio of Jim "Catfish" Hunter, another Yankee great who was taken from us by ALS. There are also 22 photos and illustrations. This is a great piece for the baseball fan as well as movie buffs. This program is new and unused with all pages present, no tears or creases, and staple binding intact. There may be some slight finger smudges on the black cover.
