The Nd144-C “The Cody” model is a modified version of the original Nd144-S electromagnetic pickup used specifically for 1-string applications. It is named after a longtime customer who was building a stringed instrument that required a pickup for each string. We collaborated on this design and I made him a dozen of these custom models. This pickup is great for diddley bows and other single string instruments.

Though this model has very specific uses, there are two other models that can cover a variety of guitar and cigar box guitar applications.

The Junk Shop Audio Nd144-C has a stripped-down, compact design and can be installed in a number of creative ways—in some cases, it can even be hidden completely for a smooth, uncut top appearance to better preserve original cigar box artwork.

This pickup has a lower output level than traditional single coils/humbuckers, but has an excellent signal to noise ratio when grounded properly and performs best when wired directly to the output jack, as potentiometers (volume and tone controls) commonly used in guitar construction lack compatibility.

Each Junk Shop Audio Nd144-C Electromagnetic Pickup is hand-assembled in Fenton, Missouri—magnets can easily be removed and added based upon building requirements.
