Born in 1916, Dick Haymes was an Argentinean-born actor and singer, active in the United States. He was one of the most popular male vocalists of the 1940s and early 1950s.
Haymes began his rise to fame as a Big Band vocalist, performing with Harry James, Tommy Dorsey, and Benny Goodman. As he became more popular, he frequently teamed up other popular vocalists of the day, including Helen Forrest, Judy Garland, Bing Crosby and the Andrew Sisters. Haymes had his own radio program from 1944 to 1948 and also appeared in numerous films and television shows before his death in 1980.
