Here it is – the ultimate
"Heartbreaker" guitar. Lead guitarist Mike Campbell has been swearing
by this guitar produced in "Good Old Germany" since the late 2000s.
Campbell, who has played many different guitar models in his musical career,
ended up with the Duesenberg Starplayer TV. In his honor, Duesenberg released
his own signature model as part of the Artist Alliance series. "There's
nothing like this guitar", to put it in Campbell's own words. With this
blue and white beauty, Campbell helped the band "Tom Petty and The
Heartbreakers" create a new and refreshing sound in the new millennium.
It is not without reason that the
Starplayer TV is our best-selling Duesenberg. The look is reminiscent of some
classics from the USA. But at the latest when you study the specifications, you
realize that these instruments clearly stand out from all other instruments on
the market, both technically and sonically. The one-piece maple neck with
rosewood fingerboard is still very classic and traditional and it's very easy
to play. But the semi-acoustic body with spruce top and back/sides made of
laminated maple as well as the scale length of 25.5 "suggest that
something very unique has been created here. The exciting blue metallic finish
with its two rally stripes in the middle is reminiscent of a racy American
sports car and invites you to play the guitar immediately. The pickguard is
adorned with Mike Campbell's signature, this time with a very special pictogram
– the number 30, with the zero reshaped into a broken heart. A very nice detail
– just very "Heartbreaker-like".
The hardware and the pickups are
completely in-house developments by Duesenberg. The Diamond Deluxe Tremolo
works perfectly and the two pickups make the Starplayer TV Mike Campbell 30th
Anniversary with their diversity a versatile tool. For powerful lead sounds and
heavy riffs, the Starplayer TV has a classically wound GrandVintage humbucker
in the bridge position, while the characterful Domino P90 on the neck is ready
for airy chords and creamy melodies. In the center position of both pickups, a
special circuit ensures that certain frequencies are filtered out from the
humbucker's signal. This brightens the tone and creates a distinct third sound.
Starplayer TV models are played by many
top musicians around the globe and has become one of the standards of the music
industry over the years.
