The collectible silver coin of Ukraine minted in 2016 is dedicated to the Lunar patron of the year, the Monkey. The coin’s denomination is 5 hryvnias, but its value is much more due to the precious metal it’s made of. The artwork used in decoration of the coin is inspirited by the folk Ukrainian visual art. The Monkey is depicted in the corresponding manner on the reverse side of the piece surrounded by the relief national patterns. The other signs of Lunar zodiac are placed there too. The obverse of the piece shows the denomination indicated in the same folk art manner among the traditional patterns similar to the ones on the other side. The emblem of the country is minted above the central image and the year of mintage is placed below it. The name of the issuing bank is explained in the stylized script on the patterned area of the surface.
