This is a length of antique filet-type lace from the 1900s. It is black and about 3" wide with a center of square mesh with flowers in the center and edges with large flowers. The band of flowers down the center measures 1.5" wide. This is one continuous length: it has been folded into V shapes that are about 6 to 7" long and basted to a backing fabric. I have looked closely at folds and it appears that the lace is folded, not cut. I have measured the length as about 4 3/4 yards, being very conservative in my measurements. I think if you remove the basting and straighten it out, you would have 5 yards or more.
This is in excellent condition, with only a little wear along the edges of the lace, as I have tried to show in the photos. It has such a lovely, delicate look! I presume the v folds were to attach to the folded pleats of an Edwardian dress. It is still flexible and not brittle, with no indication of wear. Please write in to ask questions!
