For your attention great looking big man's wrist watch converted
from pocket watch with Agassiz pocket watch movement. New stainless steel case with crystal
back recently made for this wonderful movement. The diameter of the
watch is 48.5 millimeters and 59 millimeters from lug to lug and 14.5
millimeters thick. Original porcelain dial with black Arabic numerals is in
perfect condition and is signed J.W EDDY.
High grade Nickel stripe decorated movement is
signed Adjusted J.W EDDY Kewanee,
Hls Serial # 84750 which
dates this movement to the year circa 1900 Stem wind/ pin set (Once
the pin was pushed in, the crown could be turned to set the time)
16 jewels movement, jeweled to the
center has bimetallic compensated balance wheel, Breguet overcoil balance
spring, counter poised "moustache" lever. Watch is serviced and
oiled and is in good working condition and keeps good time. The watch
comes with a new 22 mm black leather
strap.
Founder Auguste Agassiz was trained in business and
worked for a time in the banking industry. In 1832, he and two partners, Henri
Raiguel and Florian Morel (who were brothers in law) elected to launch their own
watchmaking enterprise as a comptoir in the town of Saint-Imier. The partnership
known as Raiguel Jeune & Cie., later to become Longines, was
born.
