Even though some vintage lenses are exceptionally good, please do not expect to get the modern latest CAD designed ultras sharpness from many others (i.e. science/tech were not there when old ones were designed and manufactured...not to mention modern digital sensor's intrinsic requirement).
Most importantly, vintage lenses are to add very unique, something fun/nostalgic, "Vintage Characters" to your portfolio without having to go thru time consuming post processing chores.
Attention: Almost all multi-decade vintage optical equipment (e.g. binocular, lens, camera, microscope, telescope, etc.) are bound to have possible foreign objects inside of them due to inadvertent introduction of very tiny to noticeable size of the following (e.g.): air bubbles, metal shavings, fungus, haze, evaporated oil residue, deteriorated glue/grease/foam, and/or, mostly, all kinds of dust blown-in from the real-world external environment. If you want a truly pristine item, you either have to search long and hard for that rare item (and pay for it) Or you can have, at your convenience, quality CLA work done to bring them up to optically optimal level.
