The story goes that originally Sidney Paget's brother, Walter, who was also an illustrator, have been invited to illustrate the Sherlock Holmes series, but the letter has arrived to Sidney instead - and the rest is history, as they say! His portrayal of the sleuth has become iconic, compelling all illustrators, artists and actors that came after to imitate his vision of the detective.
