The prior owner was an American surgeon from Florida who collected high quality Islamic art. His colleague at the hospital (another doctor, strangely enough) was an authenticator for the large auction houses who specialized in Islamic art and especially old Qurans. Prior to the previous owner purchasing this leaf he asked his colleague to authenticate it and he did.  

The leaf is almost 1000 years old. Very rare. Please research auction prices for Andalusia Quran leaves of similar size and quality. These sell for around $5000 (or more) for just one leaf (make sure you compare with same size and quality of preservation). 

These leaves are usually some of the most expensive and desired by collectors.
