Sound Sense

£2.99

The Sound Sense is an electronics kit that detects sound and produces a resulting digital and analogue output. This kit is excellent for makers needing to add a sound-sensing module to their design, and ideal for beginners looking to get some soldering practice.

Product Features

Description

The Sound Sense is a small sound-sending module in kit form which converts sound waves into an electric signal. Powered by voltages between 3V to 5.5V, the Sound Sense provides two outputs; one digital and one analogue.

Applications

The Sound Sense is ideal for those creating circuits that need to detect sound, with one common example being clapper switches. The onboard potentiometer can be used to change the sensitivity of the microphone (i.e., a loud clap), and a second circuit can be used to identify claps from other loud sounds. This also means that the Sound Sense can be used as a sound monitor in security circuits that listen out for unexpected noises (i.e., people breaking into a home via smashing windows). At the same time, the Sound Sense can also detect wind, and this can enable the sensor to be used as a basic air flow detector. Finally, the analogue output of the Sound Sense can be amplified to be played on a speaker, but the single-rail supply of this kit means that only half the waveform is preserved.

Our mission

MitchElectronics is an electronics kit designer and manufacturer based in Stratford-Upon-Avon, the heart of the UK. Our electronic kits are specifically targeted at all levels of education, whether it is someone who has started a new journey into the realm of electronics, or someone who is looking to brush up their soldering skills.

Founded by Robin Mitchell in 2011, MitchElectronics has years of experience in designing electronic kits and resources that accompany them. The founding principle of MitchElectronics, which still holds true today, is to provide high qualtiy electronic kits to educators, makers, and engineers at affordable prices. We believe that because the electronics industry develops cheaper parts each year, these savings should be passed onto consumers.

Furthermore, we also believe that electronic kits should come with numerous amounts of resources that not only provide clear instructions on how to build them, but also educate the user on how and why the kit works. As such, we have made it our mission to make the best instructions on the market.

RoHS & REACH Compliancy

At MitchElectronics, we recognise and fully support legislation that helps to protect the environment including RoHS and REACH. As such, all our products are RoHS and REACH compliant, allowing for their use in all markets across the globe. All our PCBs use lead-free plating, all our components are sourced responsibly, and all parts are marked as RoHS compliant.

Product Variation / Returns Policy

Note that product specifics such as output frequency depend on the tolerance of the components. The numbers provided here are an approximation only. Also take note that the estimated delivery is not guaranteed (unless special delivery is chosen) and free delivery has a maximum waiting time of two weeks. Any product that is returned which is built using lead solder is ineligible for a refund. All parts sold by MitchElectronics are compliant with RoHS and REACH directives which ensure that they can be used in commercial environments as well as complying with environmental laws.
