For your consideration: An Antique Johnny Griffin Bronze/Brass Inkwell without Insert
Estate Find....
This amazing and rare figural bronze inkwell depicts the folk character "Johnny Griffin" and most likely dates from the late 19th to early 20th century. It features the head of the young man wearing a tattered hat. The hole in the hat serves as a pen holder. The back of Johnny's head is hinged. The inkwell is very well crafted in bronze with a lush dark patina and sculpted with deep detail in the young man's face and an almost Art Nouveau floral design near the bottom. Piece is signed with a CV on the bottom front. The underside has a raised serial number "4557". It measures 6" long x 3 1/4" wide at the bottom and stands 2 1/4" tall. Please see all photos. A wonderful antique figural inkwell. Thank you for viewing my item!
