This is a rare single page advertising handbill (flyer) promoting the opening of the Broadway revival of the MAE WEST comedy "DIAMOND LIL" at the Coronet Theatre in New York City on February 3rd, 1949. (The production began previews on February 3rd, 1949 at the Coronet Theatre and officially opened February 5th, 1949, but suspended performances on February 26th, 1949 when Miss West broke her ankle. The show would reopen September 7th, 1949 at New York's Plymouth Theatre and run for 182 performances before going on the road. Following the tour and a summer hiatus, the production returned to New York's Broadway Theatre on September 14th, 1951 for an additional 67 performances.) ..... The play starred the legendary MAE WEST in the title role and featured RICHARD COOGAN, CHARLES G. This single page, two-sided handbill measures 5 3/8" X 9 1/4" inches and includes a wonderful photo of MAE WEST and the opening date on the front and promotional text and excerpts from a number of reviews on the backside ..... CONDITION: With the exception of creasing to the lower right corner, this rare handbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
