Rare 1950s Elgin American Salvador Dali Bird in Hand powder compact! The fun rare Elgin American Bird-in-Hand compact and lipstick! It dates from the early 1950's and was inspired by the work of Salvador Dali the famous Surrealist artist.  The piece measures 4.5" x 2.5" and the finish is a silverplate.  It's signed Dali on the top of the head which pulls out to reveal the empty lipstick holder.

The compact opens to reveal the powder area with signed puff that looks unused. It's also signed Elgin American on the powder area. The mirror is clean. Below the powder area is a small compartment in the tail of the bird for pills.

This is in terrific condition, with minor wear to the plating and head of the bird as shown in the photos. The plating always showed wear and the wear on this is normal. A great compact to add to your collection!
