A true American Classic.. This old girl got a makeover and is in need of a new home.. This is a Fenwick Feralite FF858 originally purchased in 1974. Was used by a gentleman in TN who fished the rod in Maine for 6 summers until his death in 1980. The rod was stuck on a shelf in a sealed basement for the next 43 years until an estate sale in 2022 when I bought the rod.

Rod has been completely revamped with modern components. Modern Chrome stripping guides with black ceramic insert, single foot chrome running guides, high end anodized aluminum reel seat finished in gun smoke titanium, new custom turned cork grip and fighting butt. Bright copper automotive grade paint overcoated with epoxy over all the original thread work. It does have the original tip top in chrome. The rod guides have whiskey wraps (semi-transparent) over the new guides. I have it marked as a 8' but it is actually an 8'4" in the 1974 version of an 8WT.

This rod sports a classic full flex taper which is typical for a glass rod from this era. Those who know this style of rod will really appreciate the beautiful parabolic bend and forgiving taper. It definitely beckons back to a different time in the history of fly fishing gear technology. The original blank color is a dark brown which has not been redone. All the original battle scars are intact. She needs a good home after sitting in the dark for 43 years. I can't keep her, my rod locker is overflowing and I really don't want this rod to be a wall hanger, needs to be fished. I have many hours in this makeover over the past year and half, so I believe the asking price is quite competitive for the angler who knows and fishes these rods.
Unfortunately, this rod does not come with the original rod sock or tube, those were lost in the 4+ decades this rod sat in the dark.
Will be packed in plastic sleeving and shipped in a PVC tube, and oversized shipping costs will apply for this one.
