Review

"Hip on Health is where I go for health information! The practical, easy-to-read format is perfect for busy families and staff. With mini-posters and information sheets on 144 pertinent topics, this is a comprehensive resource you will use again and again."
--Marna Holland, EdD, Birth-Kindergarten Licensed Teacher "This user-friendly resource outlines every imaginable injury, illness, disease and/or health and safety issue a caregiver would ever experience while caring for children. In addition, the author understands the need for clear and concise information, presented in a format that will attract the attention of those who are in need of the information, whether it be parent, teacher, or director. I am sure this important resource will become a highly utilized desktop companion for anyone purchasing it."
--Jody L. Martin, Vice President of Education and Training, Crème de la Crème "Hip on Health is quintessential Charlotte Hendricks. As a widely recognized expert in the field of early childhood health education, Dr. Hendricks combines focal points about 144 health and safety topics with Nic Frising's entertaining illustrations to create this essential health and safety resource. The additional bonus of mini-posters and information sheets makes this resource a "must have" for everyone involved in the care of children."
--Marilyn Massey-Stokes, EdD, CHES, FASHA, CWHC, Interim Co-Chair, Associate Professor, Department of Health Studies, Texas Woman's University "Hip on Health, by Dr. Charlote Hendricks, is a significant contribution to child health literature. The format allows presentation of material in readable and also, with the unusual accompanying posters, visual form. A wide range of topics is covered in succinct style, enhanced by lighthearted cartoons. The breadth of subject material is impressive, ranging from common, indeed daily, concerns, to less common but important considerations. Noteworthy is the inclusion of the dangerous "hot car syndrome," which is generally inadequately appreciated, despite some forty child deaths annually from this totally preventable disaster. This is a good manual for all who deal with children."-- S.D. Palmer, MD, Clinical Professor of Pediatrics, UAB School of Medicine Hip on Health: Health Information for Caregivers and Families features large-size print, fun black and white illustrations by Nic Frising, and a discussion of health and wellness in early childhood that features information covering a child's growth, development, and typical childhood issues from illness to safety. All this is presented in the form of reproducible mini posters, one-page information sheets, and documents that lend to posting, distributing to families, displays, and more. While this information has been covered before, it's the format which promises to reach further into general-interest audiences, parenting and communities, providing all health concerns in easily-digestible approaches perfect for discriminating educators.--Midwest Book Review, California Bookwatch June 2015
