Up for sale, a 1993 Ibanez RG7CTTL Spot Model in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Part of the RG Series, this very rare non-catalog model (described by Ibanez as a “spot model”) was crafted at the venerable Fujigen factory exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, only offered in 1993. This built-to-shred Superstrat features top-of-the-line craftsmanship and componentry, with a few touches typically reserved for the JEM line including the Tree of Life inlay and scalloping of the last four frets. Tonewoods include a mahogany body with a 7mm bookmatched flame maple top. The humbuckers have both been upgraded with USA-made Dimarzios, with a Fred in the neck position and an Evolution at the bridge. The Fred has roughly the same power as Dimarzio's PAF Pro, but the rich overtones create a sound with more crank and growl (for years this was a go-to pickup for Joe Satriani). The Evolution in the bridge position was a humbucker engineered for Steve Vai, designed for maximum impact and power with a tight, aggressive sound. Dimarzio's patented dual-resonance configuration reproduces more harmonic overtones than other humbuckers too.  The original DiMarzio-made IBZ/USA C2 single coil pickup is intact in the middle position. The C2 is stacked and noiseless, delivering ample single coil snap and shimmer. This Ibanez weighs 8lbs 2oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action, and spot-on intonation. The maple neck has Ibanez’s Wizard profile, a slender D-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .755” deep at the 1st fret and .845” at the 12th. The thick slab ebony fretboard sports Tree of Life vine inlay and flawless stock medium jumbo fretwire. This guitar is notable for being the first non-JEM Ibanez to have the Tree of Life inlay. This RG7CTTL plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The locking nut measures a full 1 11/16” in width, holding steady against the deepest of dives at the Lo-Pro Edge tremolo. The original gold Gotoh tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. All of the electronics function as intended, with the HSH pickup complement governed by a five-way selector switch and Master Volume and Tone knobs. Gold-plated hardware includes the dome-topped knurled knobs, pickup surrounds, and Lo-Pro Edge tremolo. The Lol-Pro Edge tremolo is recessed into the body, actuating smoothly and snapping back to pitch quickly. The gloss Transparent Blue finish has a distinctive greenish hue, highlighting wall-to-wall flame figuring across bookmatched maple top. Cosmetic wear is limited to a few nicks and dings along the body perimeter and on the lower bout on top, with some faint finish scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile is flawless. A faux leather padded gigbag is included.
