Stunning Antique 18k gold seed pearl French Victorian draperie festoon necklace for your consideration. Featuring 5 oval shaped filigree motifs with teardrop dangling motifs. These dangling motifs are intercepted by chain that are hanging like a drape or festoon. This is an exceptionally beautiful necklace that is 16&3/4" in length. Filigree oval motifs are 1/2" in length. Dangling teardrop motifs are also 1/2" long and the intercepting chain is 5/8" from base of filigree motifs to center of chain. There are 3 count 1 mm pearls on each festoon chain. Upon close observation with a loupe some of these pearls have maintained there luster while others have lost it and 2 are missing but due to their size, not only are these delicate pearls details difficult to see but the 2 pearls missing from two separate drapes are impossible to detect with a naked eye. This is a very old piece and it's focal beauty lies in the filigree motifs and dangling motifs which is really what dominates this incredibly gorgeous piece. Pearls appear as mere specks hence very hard to see the missing micro pearld. Very rare item. Hard to come by.
Note the jump ring attached to the clasp bears a stamp on what appears to say 10k however under a strong loupe you will discover that the 0 is half of 8 and the k is also half. In addition the chain has been tested for 18k. Weight of necklace is 5 grams.
