Laser Platinum

NGK Laser Platinum® spark plugs are the masters of ignition performance in addition to a longer service life. Dual platinum surfaces on the center and ground electrodes ensure a much slow wear rate compared to standard plugs. Idle stability is improved along with superior anti fouling, improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions.

By utilizing the highest amount of platinum content in the industry, NGK has created an extremely long-life, high performance spark plug. The laser welded platinum tip on the center electrode works in harmony with the ground electrodes platinum pad or tip (depending on part number) to achieve such results.

The ground electrode is also taper cut, in simple terms this is done to reduce as much obstruction as possible to the flame as it starts to burn from the electrode tips. This allows for a more complete, efficient burn which in-turn increases MPG.

  • Laser welded Platinum tip on the center electrode for improved durability and electrical conductivity.
  • Laser welded Platinum pad or tip (depending on part number) on the ground electrode provides a longer service life.
  • Trivalent metal plating provides superior anti-corrosion and anti-seizing properties.
  • Service life of up to 90,000 miles.
  • Improved cold start performance.
  • Taper-cut ground electrode reduces 'quenching' (helps the flame to expand with minimum amount of obstruction).
  • Improved acceleration.
  • Better fuel economy and lowers exhaust emissions.
  • Fantastic quality as you'd come to expect from NGK.
  • Original Equipment (OE) approved design.

In a bid to help everyone understand the severity of how accurate some copies can be these days, we provide detailed, side-by-side comparison photos of genuine spark plugs placed directly next to counterfeits that we've discovered online, providing help to all those who need it.

Trust genuine, trust us! Simply type 'How to spot fake Iridium IX spark plugs' in a search engine and we'll sure be near the top of the results.

Vehicle Compatibility

  • Please search for the NGK Part Finder website on a search engine to verify plug fitment.

  • If there's a compatibility chart added to this listing, use it as a guide only and verify fitment with NGK's Part Finder website.

Installation

WARNING - DO NOT USE COPPER GREASE (AKA COPPER SLIP, ANTI-SEIZE, THREAD COMPOUND) ON MODERN SPARK PLUG THREADS!

  • Using such lubricants can result in over-torqued values with a torque-wrench by up to 20 percent! Possibly causing major damage.
  • Virtually all modern spark plugs feature a special zinc-chromate shell plating which provides corrosion resistance to the elements.
  • Spark plugs should be tightened down with a dry thread only.
  • On spark plugs that feature a crush-able base gasket washer, be prepared for tightening to feel odd (gets harder) at the last stage.
  • Follow the instructions on the box that show you to finger tighten first and then rotate the amount shown afterwards with a wrench.
  • The only time anti-seize compound should be used is on vintage spark plugs that use a non-coated, usually black surface.
