A nice example of the exquisite needlepoint bags imported from Europe in the early 1900s. This bag comes from Austria. The floral needlepoint design was hand worked on a canvas of cotton or linen in polychrome colors against a creme background with a black border. The front and back are identical; the bottom is narrow with a wreath of flowers winding around it. The purse has a brass frame etched with a zig-zag pattern which also trails across the cool square kiss clasp. The brass chain has twisted links. The inside of the bag is lined with peach moire. The bag is 7" wide by 5 1/2" high including the clasp. It drops 4 1/2" from the chain. Weight is 4.2 oz.
