Description

Today, street snapshots are commonplace in blogs and magazines around the world.
But did you know that it started with a Japanese person?

Forty years ago, Shoichi Aoki, a documentarian, began documenting in photographs not the trends intentionally created by magazines and famous brands, but the cool fashions that were alive and well on the streets. And soon after, in 1986. Aoki launched "STREET," the world's first street snapshot magazine.

In 1997, he launched "FRUiTS," a street snapshot magazine for Harajuku. Like "STREET," it is a fashion record magazine with no advertisements or image modification. In 2004, he launched TUNE, a street snapshot magazine for men in Harajuku.

Today, its loyal readers are all over the world.
Former Hermès designer Martin Margiela is one of them.
There is even an episode in which he himself asked me to co-edit a special book.
