What is this service for?
- Motherboard and replacement GPU will be baked prior to service to remove trapped moisture.
- Original 90nm GPU* in all backwards compatible PS3 models** replaced with a more reliable 40nm or 65nm GPU.
- GPU VDDR voltage reduced from 1.2V to 1V or .95V depending on GPU revision used.
- Voltage mod will leave syscon in control of power delivery to ensure the safety of both you and your system.
- Motherboard will be ultrasonically cleaned to remove all flux residue and prevent corrosion overtime.
- CPU and GPU will be delidded*** and all thermal paste / thermal pads will be replaced.
- Interior of system will be fully cleaned of built up dust.
- System will be FULLY tested for all functionality. GPU will be stress tested via graphically demanding gameplay for five hours divided by 10 full thermal cycles.
- One year warranty is provided with the new GPU if system passes testing. If system fails during this period due to a GPU related defect, the GPU can be replaced again at no additional cost (warranty does not cover return shipping after 30 days).
*Please keep in mind that replacing the GPU requires the motherboard's temperature to be raised to 220 - 230 Celsius! This is an extremely high temperature that can quickly kill electronic components. While I take as many precautions as possible to safely provide this service, it's important to keep in mind that these are 15+ year old motherboards with many complex electronic components. For this reason, I can only recommend this service to systems that are already defective, as there is no guarantee that your system's motherboard will survive the high temperatures required to replace a large lead free BGA chip.
**This service applies to all fully backwards compatible PS3's (CECH-A, B, C, E models and DECHA00A). Which GPU revision your system will receive depends on current stock. If you have a preference, you may let me know before the service is performed, but please keep in mind that this may increase the turn around time.
***After delid, the IHS for both processors will be reattached with similar adhesives as to what Sony used in order to maintain their rigidity and reduce warping. I can skip this step at your request, but please keep in mind that this will void any warranty provided with this service.
Why should I get this service?
Most backwards compatible PS3's that experience the "YLOD" error, or power on but display no image / graphical artifacting have defective GPU's which can only be fixed by replacing the GPU. This service will rid your system of the original 90nm GPU, and replace it with a newer, more reliable, and more efficient GPU. The newer GPU revisions do not suffer from the same defective design as the original 90nm revision, so even if it is operated at high temperatures, it will still prove to be reliable. However thanks to the better power efficiency, newer GPU's will achieve record low temperatures when paired with a backwards compatible PS3's cooling solution!

*The fan mod involves editing the PS3's fan curve in syscon to prioritize lower temperatures. This will slightly increase the fan speed in exchange for lower peak operating temperatures. This mod is completely safe and will not pose any risk to using your PS3 online. The mod will also stay intact after firmware updates, or formatting / replacing the HDD.

Policies
If you are sending in a defective system, then your system will be diagnosed before service to ensure that the issue is actually related to the GPU first. If it is found that the GPU is not defective and you decide to not have the original GPU replaced, then the difference between the new repair cost and what was initially paid for this service will be refunded to you.
If the GPU replacement / repair service is attempted, but the system is found to be unrepairable afterwards, then a $100 repair attempt fee will be applied and the difference from what was paid for service will be refunded.
If a diagnosis is made and the system is found to be unrepairable before any repair attempt is made, then a $50 diagnostic fee will be applied and the difference paid for service will be refunded. The diagnostic fee will also apply if you decline any repair be performed after a diagnosis is made.
How do I send in my console?
After purchase, you will soon receive a direct message from me including all of the necessary shipping information. Shipping costs in this listing only cover return shipping. Unless otherwise stated, turn around time is usually 10 business days after receiving your system.
To ensure that your system is safely shipped, I recommend following the advice listed below:
1. Use a box that is at least 2 inches larger than the console on all sides (front, back, sides, top and bottom).
2. Ensure that the console itself is wrapped with at least 1 inch worth of bubble wrap on all sides. Ensure no corners are exposed.
3. Any remaining empty space in the box should be filled with compressible shipping material, such as foam, crumbled paper, etc. Please do not use air packs as they can pop and become useless.
4. When the box is closed, ensure that the console does not move when the box is shaken.
Please keep in mind that I am not responsible for any damage caused during shipping due to inadequate packaging, and any systems received damaged due to inadequate packaging may be refused service, returned as is, and your order will be refunded minus shipping costs.
