Antique 1800's Apothecary Cork Press.
Cast iron with large hand turned wood handle. Fortwo sizes of cork compress areas. This would have been used in an area bottling larger bottles requiring larger corks.

16 X 3 1/2 inches.

CONDITION: Surface rust and soiled. With a little TLC would be beautiful! Very graceful!

Cork Presses were used throughout the 1800s and early 1900s you would have found them in Pharmacy’s and Drug stores across America.
You lift the handle and place a moistened cork into the press by pushing the handle down the cork would compress to the size bottle you needed it to fit.
