Antique Chatillon Portable 50 Lb Hanging Spring Scale Shiny Brass And Iron 15".

Made by John Chatillon and Sons, NY. Rough estimate scale in one pound increments up to 50 pounds. Not for fine-tuned weighing when you need ounces!

It really is a nice, heavy duty, item. A magnet will stick strongly to the entire piece. Beautifully made. There is some pitting in the hook and hanging ring, generally a sign of significant age. We don't know when this was made however.

Adapted from online sources: John Chatillon and Sons was a New York manufacturer of scales. The company was established in 1835 and operated until being sold to Ametek in 1997.
