Description:

The “Forend” Lightning Strike Event Counter is a part of the “Forend” line of Lightning Protection products.

When the Lightning strikes, the high voltage current goes through the System wires. Then the counter registers the event for a later reference. The unit has a 6 digit mechanical display. So, after the single lightning strike the numerical value changes +1. Numbers add and stay.

Easy to install - just attach it’s rear side firmly to wires which are going from Air Terminal above to Grounding Electrode below.

The counter does NOT require any external power supply.

The installation brackets, bolts, and nuts are INCLUDED.

Dimensions - 4.5”x2.5”x2.25” (length with plate 7.25”)

Weight – 1lb 5oz

Operating temperature range: from 40ºF to + 140ºF

The counter is IP65 rated.

Every counter unit has unique Serial Number.

The lightning strike counter works on electric current inductive effect principal.

The main section of our Lightning Strike Protection line is an Active Air Terminals, which are the essence of any "Forend" Lightning Protection System. That’s the part which actually "does the job".

How it works? When the lightning strikes in proximity of the protected structure/house, our Conductor produces an anticipating upward streamer (ready-to-go path) in order to “catch” the lightning strike current and, finally, redirect it to the earth through the grounding electrodes.

The most powerful one is usually used in Commercial Lightning Protection Systems for buildings and industrial applications. It covers area 518 feet in diameter. Another one is a mid-size active device for smaller applications - Lightning Protection Rod System Conductor and it protects 413 feet diameter teritory. The lightest one is usually bought by private house owners or small businesses. It’s ideal for Regular Home Lightning Protection System and defends 315 feet diameter zone.
