Theatre Arts Monthly was a monthly American publication that ran from 1916 to 1964. Broad in scope and handsomely designed, the publication contained in-depth coverage of every aspect of the theatre-world, and these vintage magazines offer today’s readers a permanent record of American dramatic art in its formative period, introducing dramatic trends and events, and to the emergence of new and important dramatists, directors, playwrights and stage designers of the time. There are also articles on the emerging movie scene and drama in Europe, South America and Russia. Not to mention the wonderful advertisements!

In this issue:
  • Who Killed Cock Robin? Broadway in Review by Edith JR Isaacs
  • The Scene in Europe by Ashley Dukes
  • Films of Fact and Fiction by Paul Rotha
  • The Heritage of Réjane (1857 - 1920) by Jacques Porel
  • A Generation of Lost Plays by Morton Eustis
  • Impromptu de Paris by Jean Giraudoux

Pictures include:
  • Gabrielle Réjane
  • Sir Cedric Hardwicke, Henry Sothern, Len Doyle and Julie Haydon in Shadow and Substance
  • Arthur Byron and Sidney Blackmer in Stop-Over
  • Today We Live - R.I. Grierson
  • E Martin Browne
  • Frederick Leister, Philip Tonge and Francis Compton in Bachelor Born

Condition: There is evidence of water damage, with the pages being ‘wiggly' and some minor water staining to the magazine. The covers are rather fragile and show minor damage to the edges and spine, the staples have rusted. However, given that this magazine is around 80 years old, its condition is pretty good and all pages are fully legible!

I accept returns and any questions - just ask!
