Shogun is a talented rock band where all members had already been active as studio musicians for more than 10 years at the time of their debut. The bass line on the B-side is really cool! This is the theme song for the 1979 drama " Detective Story, " which gained a cult following and starred Yusaku Matsuda. It is very stylish with hard-boiled music and hard-boiled drama to match. Yusaku Matsuda is also known for his role as yakuza Sato in the Hollywood movie " Black Rain ”.

SPECTRUM was a Japanese jazz, fusion, and brass rock band active from 1979 to 1981. 

It was the first Japanese rock band to feature brass instruments ( brass ) as its main instrument. 

The band's main characteristics are its EW&F-like sound with the sound of brass and the three vocalists: 

Nitta's falsetto vocals, guitarist Nishi's rock vocals, and bassist Watanabe's AOR vocals. 

The costumes are also impressive, reminiscent of Sun Ra and Funkadelic..!!

This is a single cut from the third album " Kimagure", a hidden gem from 1977 by Seri Ishikawa, a half-American, half-Japanese singer also known as Yosui Inoue's wife. The A-side "Moonlight Surfer" was composed by Panta of 頭脳警察（ Zunou Keisatsu  ), and the stylish arrangement incorporating reggae rhythms was produced by Makoto Yano, who is also known as Akiko Yano's ex-husband and intro piano is by Akiko Yano. 

Other side of the coupling double-sider version is " Midnight Love Call, " a bossa-tinged CITY POP masterpiece composed by Yoshitaka Minami, who later self-covered the song himself!
