RESTORED BEAUTY: 1918 MAKERS MARK Antique Primitive Hand Tool Sickle Grim Reaper.

ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS

I HAVE BEEN RESTORING FINE ANTIQUES FOR OVER 40 Years & it was a pleasure to preserve this great piece of AMERICAN HISTORY 🇺🇸

I KNEW THIS SICKLE HAD BEAUTIFUL BONES, IT JUST NEEDED SOME CAREFUL METICULOUS RESTORATION…I returned it to full glory maintaining its antique beauty

This hand sickle is about 125 years old

MAKERS MARKS..very readable, some letters have been worn away

Reads: “ Shapleigh Hardware Company Diamond Edge… Has a Diamond edge trade mark logo which is an arrow going thru DE letters

There is also the letters “S C S” hand stamped into the blade(see photos) no doubt this was the original owners initials he punched/stamped into the blade

see photos for detailed close up photo of Makers Marks

RESTORATION DETAILS: blade was loose & rusty in handle, I removed entire blade from handle.

Gently buffed away rust on blade & tang, reseated blade tang in handle with epoxy, restored black painted handle leaving some oak wood showing thru by design!

I added a protective metal cap on handle end, & epoxied steel metal ferrule in place between blade & handle.

I sharpened the blade. Sealed entire tool with laquer!

I believe this sickle looks spectacular, perhaps you will too & make it yours!!

THE PATINA ON THE BLADE & HANDLE IS OUTSTANDING

I LOVE THE SOLID OAK WOOD BOBBIN TURNED HANDLE

YOU WILL NOT FIND A MORE BEAUTIFUL TOOL, ALL WITH FANTASTIC MAKERS MARKS

THIS WAS MADE IN ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI USA
