DESCRIZIONE:
Genere di circa 600 specie di alberi e arbusti monoici, semi decidui o
sempreverdi, ampiamente distribuiti in boschi e macchia dell’emisfero
settentrionale. Il Quercus petraea è un
albero deciduo, espanso, con corteccia grigia crestata e foglie variabili
ovate, obovate od oblunghe, verde scuro, con lobi arrotondati. Le ghiande prive
di picciolo, da ovoidi a oblungo-ovoidi sono portate singolarmente o in
mazzetti di 2-5. Può raggiungere i 30 m di altezza.
ESIGENZE
PEDOCLIMATICHE: Coltivare in terreno profondo, fertile, ben drenato ma si
adatta anche a quelli compatti e parzialmente argillosi. Specie rustica
sopporta il freddo e le gelate anche intense e prolungate fino a -18°-20°C. Non
sopporta la siccità e le giovani piante vanno annaffiate regolarmente durante
l’estate. Va piantata in pieno sole.
