When the alcoholic sheriff of a desolate town in New Mexico, arrives at the scene of a mysterious road accident, she is puzzled to discover a crab-like leg stuck in the grille of a burnt-out vehicle.

Digging around, she discovers that a bunch of archaeologists have unearthed a terrifying, velociraptor-like creature, that was trapped underground by the Indians nine hundred years ago, and boy is it pissed off!

And it isn’t long before the creature embarks on a murderous rampage through her remote, desert community . . .
