We have been specialising in servicing these units since 2015 done over 1500 units repaired to date.

What fails and why

With many of these cars there is a problem with water ingress. On the Q7 this is due to with the panoramic roof have issues with the roof drain blocking or splitting , also the sunroof assembly splits in the rear corner allowing water to enter the car - straight on top of the amplifier .

The amplifier usually shows signs of water damage which can be moderate to severe this causes problems with :-

No sound
Draining battery
No mmi screen
Random component protect
Loss of channels
Complete failure - this is often down to electrical surge which damages the delicate components within the amplifier - occasionally this may result in recoding being necessary . If you are unsure - please send images of board and we can advise before sending.

Repair

We carry stock of ALL parts required to rebuild these units - the data is never changed by repair so therefore the units are plug and play on return 80% of the time.***

** A small number of units may suffer from corrupt VIN memory , this will need recoded to fully function **   We will inform you if this is the case - it will be your responsibility for recoding costs as this is beyond our control.

Counterfeit / Replacement Boards

There is now a growing number of counterfeit boards circulating on eBay - please bear in mind that these units are a very poor quality replica - and WILL need coded on fitting regardless and the ' one model fits all ' listing is completely untrue - there are many model numbers / variants tailored for your vehicle .

 We are now receiving them for repair on a regular basis ... on failure , most of them are completely scrap.

Removal

The unit is located at the rear of the car on the right hand side - pretty much all the trim has to be removed to gain access . the amplifier is mounted to a bracket/frame (please remove this - it will make the packaging smaller).
