Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1.2 Aspherical lens

Voigtlander LH-10 hood

Total MSRP $1198

Optically, this Voigtlander 50mm f/1.2 lens sits perfectly between the Leica 50mm f/1.4 Summilux-M and the Leica 50mm f/0.95 Noctilux-M. Mechanically, it is made exceptionally well, and frankly, a little better than the Leica lenses - the focus and aperture rings on Voightlander lenses do not wear out as fast as they do on the Leica M lenses. And of course, the Voigtlander costs only a fraction of the cost of either Leica lens! The lens is a steal.

At f/1.4, this lens is virtually identical to the Leica 50mm f/1.4 Summilux-M, with comparable center sharpness and bokeh. At f/1.2, as you would expect, the center sharpness and contrast slightly drop compared to the Summilux at f/1.4, but it is still sharper with more contrast than the Noctilux at f/0.95. Wide open, the bokeh rendering fits right between the Noctilux and the Summilux. It is almost as if Leica designed this lens, except that the Voigtlander is better corrected than the Noctilux (less cat's eyes in the corners and less LSD colors / fringing).

I bought this brand new3-4 years ago and barely used it. It has spent almost all of its time on a book shelf, and is pretty much in mint condition. I have a glut of 50mm lenses and I am pruning.

The lens has had a high quality B+W filter on it from the minute it arrived. The filter is not included, but available as an option. The hood is included. Sorry no box.
